Welcome to Frisco Vacation Rentals

Frisco is located in The Outer Banks region of North Carolina. This is an area rich in history and natural beauty that has become one of the most beautiful vacation areas in the country. One of the most famous attractions in the Frisco/Outer Banks region is the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, located in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Frisco is situated on a narrow strip of sand called Hatteras Island and is a part of North Carolina's Outer Banks (OBX). It is a popular destination for surf fishing, surfers, kiteboarding, sailboarding, sunbathers, boaters, campers, RV lovers, beachcombers and history buffs.

Frisco is a place in Dare County in North Carolina, USA. It is located at latitude 35° 14' 6" North, longitude 75° 37' 42" West. The United States Postal Service has assigned Frisco the ZIP Code 27936.

Official census numbers show Frisco as only 401 residences as of 2000, but this town swells with visitors from April through November. Frisco is approximately six miles long and it has one main highway (Rt. 12) entering and exiting. Even in the peak of the tourism season traffic is never a real problem here. The six miles of Frisco's beaches are part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and they are under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. Visitors with a four wheel drive vehicle are permitted to drive on most of the Frisco's Atlantic Ocean beaches.

Frisco Attractions and Activities

One of the main tourism attractions for the area remains the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse located in the neighboring town of Buxton. The lighthouse is reported to be the tallest lighthouse in the United States and made history when it was moved in the late 1990s to protect it from beach erosion.

Some of major area attractions you do not want to miss during your Outer Banks vacation are:

(1) Canadian Hole - South of Frisco, this is one of the most popular windsurfing and kite boarding spot.

(2) Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic - Site In the village of Rodanthe on Hatteras Island stands the most complete U.S. Life.

(3) Currituck Outer Banks Visitor's Center - Located in the Ocean Club Center Complex, Corolla.

(4) Fort Raleigh National Historic Site - Fort Raleigh National Historic Site encompasses 513 acres.

(5) Laura Barnes Shipwreck - Timbers of one of the last sailing schooners built in America lie at Coquina Beach.

Museums

Frisco Native American Museum: The Frisco Native American Museum is a treasure located halfway between the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and the ferry to Ocracoke. The unassuming building holds an astonishing amount of artifacts, including animal mounts and a wishing drum which kids beat on as they make a wish. (Many kids will later call the curators to tell them that their wishes came true.) A nature trail winds through the nearby woods, leading kids to a miniature longhouse and a fossil pile which kids love to dig in to. They get to keep any fossils they find, virtually guaranteeing show-and-tell stardom when they get back to school.

Shop around and get references from the venue, so you can evaluate what kind of success others have had with their events at any Frisco place.
